John McIlhargy "Mac" | Founder, Mythic Sports
John McIlhargy founded Mythic Sports to innovate in facility design, development, programming, and operations. With over 35 years of experience in sports, design, and aquatics, he has played a key role in shaping world-class venues. Previously, John served as Director of Project Development for USA Swimming, where he helped establish the Facilities Development Department. As Vice President of Sports Development at Tetra Tech Sports, he contributed to global sports infrastructure, from arenas to Olympic venues. A technical consultant for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, John has also advised on multiple Olympic bids, trials, and FINA World Championship facilities. He helped pioneered the use of temporary event structures and advanced new pool construction methodologies, consulting on 400+projects worldwide. Beyond design and engineering, John brings hands-on expertise as a coach, swim program owner, and operator. He has also served as General Chairman of Metropolitan Swimming, one of the largest LSCs in the U.S.

Mythic Sports Awarded Sport Programming and Planning contract for Mount St. Mary's University, Maryland. The program includes a new aquatic center, sports fields, upgrades to existing infrastructure and a new indoor sports Fieldhouse with indoor track and field, Updated Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts and Sports Physiology Lab. PROJECT SPOTLIGHT:
Venture Foundation

Camp Venture – the first of its kind in New York State – opened in 1969 as “a place in the sun for everyone.”
Located in Stony Point, NY, Camp Venture is an integrated, seven-week, non-competitive outdoor program for Rockland County children with and without special needs. MSG supported the project from Feasibility through Design and Construction. This project included New Service and Support Space, New Pool, Splash Pad, New Basketball Court, New Playground and interactive outdoor play area and other site and facility upgrades.
This was a fun but difficult project with a very tight budget and even tighter timeline for construction. The team had to work through a harsh winter and a contaminated site to make the grand opening for the summer camp.
Mythic Sports was proud to work with the Foundation contributing technically and financially to the mission. We were proud to support their fundraising efforts and other camp goals
